Just a Melbourne copywriter writing a blog.
Sometimes about blogging.
INSIGHTS
Full transparency? I’m often too busy writing for my clients to blog here.
A bit like a 5-star chef who heats up a frozen pizza at home. But when I get the time, I share my tips on writing, marketing, my clients, and anything else I fancy really.
Want to be friends?
Connect on LinkedIn, so you don’t miss out on any future nuggets of accidental brilliance. (Like I said, I rarely post, so they should be good.)
Communications and copywriting for Melbourne non-profits
Fair warning, this is emotional. I want to tell you about the coolest kid ever and the most satisfying moment of my entire career to date. But maybe grab the tissues first.
How to find my business target audience (and why this so important)
Knowing your people is step one for any successful communication—it doesn’t matter what industry you’re in. It’s next to impossible to effectively communicate in any platform when you don’t know who’s on the other side.
How to write an SEO-friendly blog (that people actually want to read)
You already know two things: you need a blog for your marketing strategy, and they can be really hard (and time-consuming) to write. Successful SEO blogging is more than just writing—it’s a golden opportunity to connect with your people, build your brand, and show people that you really know your stuff.
How to tackle a slow work month (so you feel amazing by the end)
Anyone else noticed that workload seems to come in bursts? I couldn’t breathe for projects last month, and often found myself working on weekends and evenings after I put my toddler to bed (a big no-no in my business philosophy.)
How to tell if your writing actually sounds like you
Back in my Uni days I took a horrible course called Writing for Business. And today I would like to tell you that it was a waste of credit hours. Sorry Professor Jackson, but there is no such thing as “writing for business” anymore.
Gone are the days of all businesses having to sound the same: formal, dry, and corporate.
What do your customers see when they Google your business?
I got a new client referral a few weeks ago for a prestigious corporate firm that wanted help with redoing their website copy. Great! I love this stuff.
So obviously, like any good Millennial, I immediately googled them.
And the very first thing I saw… they only have two stars from 10 reviews. Yikes.
